The rebel-formed military council has issued orders to place the Nigerien army on high alert, following statements from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) expressing their readiness for potential intervention. Al Arabiya TV reported that the rebel-led council is preparing to mobilize additional forces in response to the prospect of an intervention.
