Rosatom specialists will participate in the launch of a new production line in Kazakhstan

JSC VNIPIpromtechnologii (an engineering center of ARMZ, the uranium holding company of Rosatom) will perform a set of works for Kazakhmys Smelting LLP (a member of the Kazakhmys group, Republic of Kazakhstan), ARMZ's press service said on Friday.


The specialists of the engineering center will take part in start-up works and complex tests of equipment at the nitric acid leaching and regeneration site of the pilot plant of hydrometallurgical processing of copper concentrates in Zhezkazgan. Earlier specialists of VNIPIpromtechnologii worked out technology of by-product rhenium recovery for Balkhash copper-melting plant by order of group Kazakhmys, is marked in the report.


Zhezkazgan copper deposit is one of the largest in the world. More than 1 billion tons of ore have been extracted in 80 years of operation, which is 75% of the total balance reserves. The Kazakhmys group ranks 20th in the world by production of copper in concentrate and 12th by production of blister and cathode copper.


VNIPIpromtechnologies JSC successfully operates in the foreign market. The largest customers include Kazakhmys Group (Republic of Kazakhstan), Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant (Republic of Uzbekistan) and Clean TeQ Sunrise Pty Ltd (Clean TeQ) (Australia).


Kazakhmys is a vertically integrated holding company with core assets in mining and non-ferrous metallurgy. The Group's principal activity is the mining and processing of copper ore into copper cathodes and copper rods and the refining and sale of precious metals and other by-products of its copper mining and processing operations.
