Russia and African countries are exploring the creation of a joint coordination office to manage energy-related initiatives across the African continent, the Roscongress Foundation told TASS following a meeting between Russian Presidential Advisor Anton Kobyakov and African Energy Chamber Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk.
Key points discussed included the establishment of a Russia–Africa energy coordination office, which would streamline collaboration on strategic projects such as oil refineries, renewable energy installations, and other critical infrastructure.
Kobyakov noted that Russia recently received proposals for major energy projects in various African states, underscoring Moscow’s commitment to supporting Africa’s energy security. He emphasized that initiatives like the Russia–Africa summits provide an important platform for deepening high-level cooperation.
Ayuk, in turn, highlighted the continent’s vast oil and coal reserves, ongoing reclamation projects, and the growing need for technical expertise. He encouraged African firms to collaborate with Russian companies, especially those with experience in reclamation and legacy field redevelopment.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation through various international forums, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (June 18–21), the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok (September 3–6), and the Russian Energy Week (October 15–17), as well as the Africa Energy Week, set for September 29 to October 3 in Cape Town.
