Rossotrudnichestvo will triple the number of budget quotas for studies in Russia provided on a competitive basis to applicants from Iran from next year, Dmitry Kalenichenko, Rossotrudnichestvo's representative in Iran, told TASS on Sunday.
"Because of the growing interest of Iranians to study in Russia, we were able to triple the number of quotas for next year," he said. - "We will be able to send 300 students to Russia to study."
Kalenichenko said this on the sidelines of an official ceremony to award Russian student visas, which were issued to Iranian students for the first time since the pandemic began. "We are going back to issuing [student] visas for Iranians, so I hope you can go to Russia as soon as possible and start your studies," he said, addressing the students. The ceremony was held at the official Russian visa center in Tehran, which opened in 2019.
In recent years, Rossotrudnichestvo has provided 90 budget places to study at Russian universities for applicants from Iran. Kalenichenko previously told TASS that in 2021, the competition under the relevant program in the Islamic republic was more than 10 people per place.
