Rubio Says Iran Will Not Have Nuclear Weapons Under Trump

21 February

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that as long as Donald Trump is in office, Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons.

"I don’t think there should be any doubt about this. Under Donald Trump, Iran will not have nuclear weapons," he said in an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, published on X.

On February 7, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared that negotiations with the US were impossible, as Washington had previously deceived his country. He pointed out that the US signed a nuclear deal in 2015, failed to uphold its commitments, refused to lift sanctions on Iran, and then unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in 2018.

On February 10, Trump stated that stopping Iran’s nuclear weapons program could only be achieved either "through bombs" or by reaching a new agreement. He emphasized that he would prefer to negotiate a deal with the Islamic Republic rather than resort to "bombing."

On February 16, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz asserted that Trump is "dead serious" about preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. According to Waltz, all options for dealing with Tehran are on the table, including diplomatic negotiations with Iranian leadership.
