Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko has received copies of the credentials from Afghanistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Russia, Gul Hasan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“We believe that the official recognition of the Afghan authorities will give new impetus to the development of productive bilateral cooperation between our countries in various fields,” the ministry emphasized.
The ministry also noted that Russia sees “significant potential for cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, with a focus on projects in energy, transport, agriculture, and infrastructure.”
“We will continue to assist Kabul in strengthening regional security and combating the threats of terrorism and drug trafficking. Deepening ties in education, sports, culture, and other humanitarian areas is also valuable for fostering friendship between our peoples,” the statement added.
