The second Russia-Africa summit will be held in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2023, Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian President, was appointed as chairman of the Organizing Committee. This is stated in a message distributed on Tuesday by the press service of the Roscongress.
" The composition of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the second Russia-Africa summit in the Russian Federation, which will be held in the summer of 2023 in St. Petersburg, has been approved. Aide to the Russian President Yuri V. Ushakov was appointed chairman of the Organizing Committee," the press service said.
The report noted that the second Russia-Africa summit is designed to give a new impetus to trade, economic, investment, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation and, thus, further expand the range of Russian-African cooperation. "Development of a comprehensive partnership with African countries is one of the priorities of the country's foreign policy. We intend to further strengthen friendly relations between our countries. The second Russia-Africa summit and economic forum will serve precisely this purpose," the press service quotes Russian presidential adviser and executive secretary Anton Kobyakov as saying.
"The second economic forum Russia - Africa is planned to be held simultaneously with the summit. It is planned that its work will be attended by the heads of the countries of the African continent who arrived in St. Petersburg together with representatives of Russian, African and international business, government agencies, as well as integration associations of Africa," said the press service.
The Roscongress recalled that after the first economic forum Russia - Africa in Sochi a big package of agreements was signed in trade, economic and investment spheres, namely 92 agreements, contracts and memorandums of understanding worth 1.004 trillion rubles.
The first Russia-Africa summit and economic forum took place in Sochi on October 22-24, 2019, under the motto "For Peace, Security and Development." The Roscongress Foundation was the operator to ensure the organization and conduct of the events.
