Russia and African countries will develop roadmaps for cooperation in various areas

Russia together with African countries will soon prepare road maps for Russian-African cooperation in economic, scientific and humanitarian spheres. Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia's Special Representative of the President for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, said on Tuesday at the international conference "Russia and Africa: building the future together" at the Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy.


According to him, Russia and Africa have built a very powerful mechanism of cooperation. "Under the secretariat of the forum [Russia-Africa] a coordination, public and scientific councils have been created, an Association of Economic Cooperation with African countries, which is headed by Alexander Saltanov, has been established. Delegations from the association have begun to travel to Africa and are working very actively with representatives of the African business community here in Moscow," he added.


In the near future, Bogdanov continued, the Russian Federation and African countries intend to "develop road maps for Russian-African cooperation in economic, scientific and humanitarian spheres".


The diplomat said that African issues are supposed to be included in the program of the upcoming St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in early June. In addition, he said, the next meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and the African Union "troika" is scheduled for this year.
