Russian-Indonesian consultations on various aspects of security were held in Jakarta, where, among other things, ways of expanding military and military-technical cooperation between the countries were outlined, the press service of the Russian Security Council reported.
The consultations were held by Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Mohammad Mahfud, Minister-Coordinator for Politics, Law and Security of the Republic of Indonesia, with the participation of representatives of military departments, special services, financial monitoring services, law enforcement agencies and justice ministries of the two countries.
"Issues of interaction between Russia and Indonesia on issues of national, regional and international security were discussed in detail," the report said.
Prospects for cooperation in combating drug trafficking and organized crime, countering terrorism and extremism were considered. They also discussed the topics of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism.
"The parties outlined ways to expand military and military-technical cooperation, as well as cooperation in the issues of legal regulation and in ensuring international information security," the press release noted.
They also exchanged views on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and other issues of mutual interest, the press release said.
Summing up the consultations, Patrushev noted that "Indonesia is one of Russia's leading partners in the Asia-Pacific region, the two countries manage to maintain the positive dynamics of political dialogue, strengthen contacts in defense and security, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres".
