Russia hopes India and Pakistan will join the SCO convention against extremism

Russia expects India and Pakistan to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) convention against extremism, Secretary of Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev stated. 


The Argumenty i Fakty newspaper published earlier extracts from his speech at the August 19 meeting of the SCO secretaries in Tashkent on Tuesday, the authenticity of the quotes was confirmed by the Russian Security Council press office. 


Russia, according to the secretary of the Security Council, is ready for cooperation in the counterterrorism direction with SCO countries. 


"We welcome the successful implementation of the program of cooperation in countering terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2022-2024, as well as the SCO convention on countering extremism in 2017. We would like to hope that India and Pakistan will join this document," Patrushev noted.
