Russia offered Pakistan a vaccine against COVID-19

Pakistan received a proposal from Russia to supply the coronavirus vaccine. The Doon newspaper reported this on Tuesday, citing official representative of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry.


"As Pakistan makes every effort to fight the second wave of COVID-19, we have received an offer from Russia to supply coronavirus vaccine," the diplomat said. - "The Russian proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Health, which is studying the effectiveness of the vaccine and all aspects of its use.


According to Chaudhry, the Pakistani government is in contact with several sources of these medicines to ensure timely procurement of the vaccine.


Pakistan has already allocated $150 million to purchase the vaccine, which will be available in the country by April 2021.


According to Pakistan's Ministry of Health, 3,795 new cases have been detected in the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infected people to 420,294. The number of deaths per day increased by 37 and reached 8,398. There are 2,539 patients in hospitals in critical condition. 356,542 people have recovered. To date, 5.8 million people, or 2.6% of the population, have been tested for coronavirus in Pakistan.


Pakistan ranks 24th in the world by the number of infected people.
