Russia Ready to Restart Trilateral Talks with Armenia and Azerbaijan

14 February

Russia is ready to resuming the work of the trilateral group with Armenia and Azerbaijan, which had been put on hold due to Armenia’s stance, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced during a briefing.

Zakharova noted that the group, chaired by the deputy prime ministers of the three countries, was focused on unblocking transport and economic links in the South Caucasus.

"Unfortunately, progress has stalled due to Armenia's position, but Russia remains committed to resuming full-fledged cooperation," she said.

She highlighted the significant progress already made in defining both the legal framework and technical details necessary to reopen transportation routes between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"The group had reached an important agreement on the principle that routes would operate under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries they pass through," Zakharova explained.
