Russia has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cooperation with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in the comments.
"On February 6, a suicide bomber attacked a mosque in Islamabad, killing 32 people and leaving 170 others injured," Zakharova noted. "We strongly condemn this barbaric act, which took place during a crowded Friday prayer service. This is yet another clear demonstration of the inhumane nature of terrorism."
Zakharova emphasized that Moscow consistently advocates for the global community's unified efforts to combat all forms of terrorism. She stated that Russia remains fully prepared to strengthen its ties with Islamabad to confront this shared threat.
"We express our most sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to all those injured," the spokesperson added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also sent a personal message of condolence to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
