Russia stands ready to work closely with Iraq’s incoming government, the Russian Foreign Ministry said following a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Iraq’s ambassador to Moscow, Abdulkarim Hashim Mostafa.
During the talks, Vershinin received copies of the ambassador’s credentials. The ministry confirmed Moscow’s commitment to “close cooperation with Iraq’s new government, which is currently taking shape in the wake of the country’s parliamentary elections on November 11.”
The discussions also touched on key aspects of the traditionally friendly Russia–Iraq relationship, including plans for upcoming bilateral engagements.
