Russia to help train and send a Tunisian female astronaut into space

Russia and Tunisia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in manned cosmonautics and also discussed the possibility of training a female astronaut from Tunisia. This is stated in a Roscosmos report distributed on Friday.



It is specified that Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin held a meeting with Tunisian Telnet Holding CEO Mohamed Friha on Friday with the participation of Tunisian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Tarak Ben Salem. "The result of the meeting was the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation in the field of manned space flights," the report said.


The state corporation specified that "the prospects of Russian-Tunisian cooperation in the field of manned space flights, in particular the intentions of the Tunisian side to prepare and launch a woman cosmonaut into space" were discussed during the meeting.
