Russian Ambassador to Libya Aydar Aganin is on his way to Tripoli, where the Russian diplomatic mission will resume its full work, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told TASS on Monday.
"The [Russian] ambassador is on his way [to Libya]," he said.
He stressed, however, that the Russian Federation counts on the security of its diplomatic mission in the country; this remains a priority.
Previously, Bogdanov stated that Moscow plans to resume the work of its embassy in Tripoli in the near future and plans to open a consulate general in Libya's second-largest city, Benghazi. The Russian Federation expects that the return of its diplomatic presence in Libya will contribute to the promotion of Russian economic interests.
