11 July 2023

Russian Ambassador to Libya Aidar Aganin outlined the sectors of education, medicine, trade, and agricultural supplies as the starting points for intensifying relations between Moscow and Tripoli. In an interview with TASS, Aganin emphasized the importance of addressing Libya's demand for grain crops and vegetable oils, which are essential commodities in the country.

According to Aganin, "To start the process, we should prioritize education, medicine and trade. We can also explore supplying Libya with essential grain crops and vegetable oils, which are in high demand. These sectors represent just the tip of the iceberg in terms of potential collaboration."

The ambassador further expressed optimism about the improving situation in Libya, stating, "As many aspects of life gradually regain stability amidst the aftermath of armed conflict, we see promising prospects for our engagement with Libya. There are numerous points of contact waiting to be explored."

Earlier this year, Russia fully reinstated its diplomatic presence in Libya, reaffirming its commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
