Russian Ambassador to Libya Aidar Aganin has expressed confidence in the prospects for Russian oil companies to work in Libya. In an interview with TASS, Aganin discussed the positive outlook for Russian energy companies in the country, particularly in light of recent developments.
Aganin stated, "I believe the prospects are very good. Besides, the Russian company PJSC Tatneft has been carrying out exploration work in Libya and under the existing conditions. Not in full force, of course, but as far as circumstances allowed. Thanks to this, in April this year the National Oil Corporation announced the discovery of a new oil field in a block near the town of Ghadames. This has not happened in Libya for a long time. So Russian companies are working and will continue to work within the framework of their contracts."
He acknowledged the challenges posed by the current situation, saying, "It is impossible to carry out any surveys now. Stabilization of the situation has not occurred in all corners of the country and not for all 100. But we hope that in the near future all this will change for the better."
Aganin emphasized the commitment of Russian companies, stating, "Russian companies are working and will continue to work within the framework of their contracts." He highlighted the importance of the recent announcement by the Government of National Unity of Libya, which lifted force majeure on oil and gas production facilities, creating opportunities for collaboration.
