Russian Ambassador: Russia-Kazakhstan Cooperation Thrives Despite Sanctions

10 February

The partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan is thriving and will not be hindered by Western sanctions against Russia, according to Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin in an interview with TASS.

"Economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan continues to progress successfully. No Western sanctions can stop it," he stated.

Borodavkin highlighted that the recent three-day visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Kazakhstan in late January and early February focused on strengthening allied relations and integration efforts. During talks with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektinov and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, discussions covered a range of strategic topics.

"The numbers shared during the visit are impressive," Borodavkin noted. "Mutual trade turnover has exceeded 2.6 trillion rubles, or 13.7 trillion tenge. Over the past 20 years, Russian investors have injected more than $25 billion in direct investments into Kazakhstan’s economy, while Kazakh companies have invested $8.7 billion in Russia. Key strategic projects in Kazakhstan, including those in industry, energy, and transport logistics, have also been highly praised."
