Russian Ambassador to Islamabad: Russia to Boost Trade with Pakistan

11 November

Russia will increase trade in existing export categories with Pakistan, particularly agricultural products and mineral fuels, Russian Ambassador to Islamabad Albert Khorov told Izvestia.

“As I mentioned earlier, last year's trade volume indeed reached a record level, showing a 51% increase compared to 2022. However, we are not planning to stop there: both Russia and Pakistan are interested in expanding the range and volume of trade,” he noted. “We expect further growth in trade in existing export categories, especially agricultural products and mineral fuels.”

The ambassador also drew attention to the prospects of expanding exports in other categories, including pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, agricultural machinery, and Russian IT services.

Regarding barter trade, Khorov added, companies in industry and agriculture can already conclude deals using this mechanism. “In early October, Russian and Pakistani companies took advantage of this opportunity, signing the first barter contracts in the history of modern bilateral trade and economic relations. Nevertheless, the issue of scaling up the number of such deals and expanding the range of goods is still under consideration,” he stated.
