Russian Ambassador to Niger Presents Credentials

16 January

Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Niger Viktor Voropaev presented his credentials to Niger’s President Abdourahamane Tchiani, Niger’s National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland reported.

Photos of the ceremony were posted on the council’s Facebook page (banned in Russia; owned by Meta, a corporation designated as extremist in the Russian Federation), and the event took place at the presidential palace in Niamey.

Seven other ambassadors presented credentials at the same time.

Voropaev was appointed Russia’s ambassador to Niger by a presidential decree in August 2025, and Russia reopened its embassy in Niger in 2025 after a 33-year break; previously, Russia’s embassy in Mali handled representation for Niger.
