Russian and Moroccan Foreign Ministers to Hold Talks in Moscow

15 October

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will host his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, for talks in Moscow on October 16. The meeting was announced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

Bourita is visiting in his capacity as co-chair of the Russian-Moroccan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which will be convening for its eighth session.

Zakharova stated the ministers will conduct a thorough review of current bilateral relations and explore opportunities for their further development. They are also expected to discuss pressing international and regional issues of mutual concern, with particular attention to the situations in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Sahara-Sahel region.

“We note the regular and constructive nature of Russian-Moroccan political dialogue, which is marked by similar or identical positions on many key contemporary issues,” Zakharova emphasized.

The two diplomats last met in late September during the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
