20 June 2023

A Russian cultural and educational center is to open in the Emirates in 2024, it will host exhibitions, poetry evenings and Russian language classes. Alexei Busev, Executive Director of the Russian-Emirati Business Council of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told TASS on Tuesday at a conference at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"We are going to open a cultural and educational center in Dubai. It is a response to numerous requests from Arab representatives, because there are no Russian cultural centers in the UAE and basically in all Gulf countries, which hold exhibitions, teach the Russian language, conduct cultural policy, so we decided to open a Russian cultural center. We want to hold exhibitions and poetry evenings there. Next year, the project will definitely be realized," he said.

According to Busev, apart from Dubai, the center could also be located in Abu Dhabi. A cultural and educational center of Russia is one of three priority projects. It will be a platform for creative evenings, exchange of contacts with local cultural figures, as well as for language training.

Earlier, Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov told TASS that the Gulf states in general and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in particular are among the most important investment partners of Russia. In the three quarters of last year, 16 times more Russian capital came to the Emirates than in the same period of 2021.
