The Russian Ministry of Defense is prioritizing the preservation and development of military ties with member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Deputy Minister of Defense Vasily Osmakov said.
"The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation pays close attention to maintaining and developing military cooperation with the Commonwealth states, both on a bilateral basis and within various international organizations, across a wide range of mutual interests," Osmakov stated during a meeting of the heads of international military cooperation bodies from CIS defense ministries, held at the Russian Defense Ministry’s International Military Center.
According to the ministry, Osmakov emphasized the vital role of coordination among these officials in fostering constructive military relations throughout the region.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol that outlines unified approaches among the defense ministries of CIS member states. This agreement focuses on expanding practical interaction in alignment with the Military Cooperation Concept of the CIS Member States through 2030.
