Russian Deputy FM and Yemeni Ambassador Discuss Middle East De-escalation Paths

11 March

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko and Yemeni Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Salem al-Wahaishi met to discuss the Middle East situation and the need for its political-diplomatic resolution.

The conversation focused on the regional dynamics, particularly ways to end the unprecedented armed confrontation sparked by US and Israeli aggression against Iran, the ministry said. Both sides expressed concern over the risks of drawing in third countries, especially Gulf Arab states. They stressed the importance of abandoning force-based approaches and swiftly shifting to a political-diplomatic settlement.

The ministry added that they also exchanged views on Yemen. Russia reiterated that compromise solutions through a broad intra-Yemeni dialogue under UN auspices remain the only viable path.

The meeting took place at the ambassador's request.
