Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who is on a working visit to Mozambique, met with the republic's leadership and discussed preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, scheduled for the fall of 2022.
"Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation M.L. Bogdanov was received by Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique A. do Rosario, and also had meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation V. Dlovu, Minister of Industry and Trade C. Meshkita and the chairman of the municipal council of Maputo E. Comisce. <...> Special attention was paid to the preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit scheduled for the fall of 2022, the participation of Mozambique in this forum and related activities," the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, released on Tuesday, reads.
The sides also discussed Russia-Mozambique relations and further development of the partnership. In particular, they talked about expanding cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres, in the field of subsoil and energy, as well as exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
Moscow and Maputo also agreed to strengthen contacts at the UN and other formats, as well as in the fight against terrorism. "In the context of the African agenda, the importance of consolidating efforts to counter the terrorist threat on the continent, including its manifestations in northern Mozambique was noted," the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
