Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen discussed by phone on Thursday the tasks of promoting a Syrian-led political process in Syria, with UN support, as well as humanitarian assistance to the republic.
"The current situation on the ground in Syria and the tasks of advancing the political process led and carried out by the Syrians themselves with the support of the UN were discussed. There was also a discussion of issues related to the implementation of UNSC Resolution 2585, in particular the tasks of providing humanitarian assistance, early recovery and the establishment of humanitarian supplies across the contact lines," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
