Russian President's special representative for the Middle East and African countries and Russian deputy foreign minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iranian deputy foreign minister Ali Bagheri discussed the situation in Syria on Friday, including in the context of interaction in the Astana format.
"During the in-depth exchange of views on topical Middle Eastern issues, the parties focused on the development of the situation in Syria, including in the context of interaction in the Astana format," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.
"The situation in Yemen, Iraq and the Persian Gulf zone was also the focus of attention," the MFA noted.
