26 April 2023

Russia stands ready to help Sudan  overcome current difficulties and return to the path of peace. Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Anna Yevstigneyeva said this on Tuesday, speaking at a meeting of the world organization's Security Council on the situation Sudan.

"We would like to confirm that the Russian Federation is ready to continue assisting the friendly Sudan in successfully overcoming the current difficulties and in returning to the path of peace and sustainable development," the diplomat stressed.

She also noted that the cease-fire agreements have failed to completely stop the fighting in the country.

"We note the ceasefire agreements reached over the weekend, which contributed to an overall reduction in the intensity of hostilities in Sudan, although they could not stop them completely," she said.
