Russian Embassy: attempts to distrust political dialogue between Russia and Chad are doomed to fail

16 January 2023

Any attempts to bring elements of mistrust into the political dialogue between Moscow and N'Djamena are doomed to fail. This was announced on Monday in a communiqué of the Russian embassy in Chad, available to TASS.

That was the diplomatic mission's commentary on the video posted on YouTube on January 9, in which two Chadian rebels dressed as colonels and sergeants, presumably in the territory of the Central African Republic (CAR), adjacent to the southern part of the Chadian border, said about allegedly preparations for an attack on the Chadian capital N'Djamena from the south to overthrow the constitutional order, allegedly with the support of the Wagner PMC.

The embassy pointed out that this video is "part of a broader campaign, launched on the Internet to discredit the Wagner PMC in the eyes of African governments, creating a significant obstacle to the promotion of political and business interests of some major players in Africa". It also noted that there are in fact insurgents on the Chadian-Central African border who pose a threat to the Chadian authorities.

"The provocative nature of the statement of the Chadian rebels, aimed at casting a shadow on the successfully developing Russian-Chadian cooperation, is also becoming evident. In this regard, the embassy claims that the attempts to bring elements of distrust to the political dialogue between Moscow and N'Djamena will be doomed to fail, no matter where they are coming from," stressed the diplomatic mission.
