The Russian Embassy in Khartoum announced that it would evacuate Russians to their places of permanent residence or to the diplomatic mission building at the first opportunity, but at the moment the situation in the Sudanese capital remains tense.
"We are also aware of the situation with a Russian citizen and her child in a church in Khartoum. Unfortunately, the situation in the Sudanese capital remains tense," the Russian embassy in Sudan wrote on Monday on its Telegram channel. - "In this regard, moving around the city is more dangerous than staying in houses or other protected premises. As soon as possible, we will evacuate Russian citizens to their places of permanent residence or to the embassy building."
The embassy says that it is in contact with Russian citizens, including those "who were suddenly and universally caught up in the hostilities outside their places of permanent residence."
According to the diplomatic mission, all such Russian citizens are currently provided with food, water and basic necessities. "Communication with them is maintained," it added.
Earlier, Metropolitan Savva of Nuba and All Sudan, Bishop of the Alexandria Orthodox Church, reported that fifteen people, including a Russian woman and her child, were blocked in the building of the Nuba Metropolitan Church in Khartoum, Sudan; they could not leave due to shelling.
