Russian Embassy in Sudan Operating Normally Despite Drone Strikes

06 May

The Russian diplomatic mission in Port Sudan continues to function as normal despite recent drone attacks, Russian Ambassador to Sudan Andrei Chernovol told TASS.

“Everything is fine at the embassy; we are operating in normal mode,” the diplomat stated.

Earlier, all flights at Port Sudan Airport were canceled following drone strikes. No reports of casualties or injuries have been confirmed. Sudanese military officials blamed the attacks on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Additionally, the Marina Hotel—located in the city center and near the current residence of the head of Sudan’s Sovereign Council and army commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan—was also targeted. A separate early morning strike hit an oil storage facility near the seaport, sparking a major fire. According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Energy, the blaze engulfed the main strategic depot along with four other oil tanks.
