Russian Embassy in Sudan remains almost fully staffed

The employees of the Russian diplomatic mission in Sudan stayed in the country at full capacity and the embassy continues its work,  Russian Ambassador to Sudan Andrei Chernovol told TASS on Tuesday.

 

"The diplomatic mission remained almost in full staff, with a few exceptions. <...> Women and children have been evacuated, the embassy remains where it was and continues its work," the ambassador said.

 

 

Chernovol added that there were Ukrainian citizens among those evacuated from Sudan by Russian Air Force planes. "There are citizens of Ukraine among them (evacuees - TASS)," he said in response to a related question. - "There were quite a lot of citizens from different countries."

 

Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian defense ministry reported that more than 200 citizens of Russia, the CIS and friendly countries, who were evacuated from the Republic of Sudan by Russian Air and Space Forces planes, arrived in Moscow. They include employees of the Russian diplomatic mission, the Russian defense ministry offices and their family members, citizens of Russia as well as CIS countries and a number of friendly foreign countries who have asked for assistance in their return to their homeland.
