Russian Embassy Warns Citizens of Immigration Checks in Indonesia

07 May

The Russian Embassy in Indonesia has issued a warning to Russian nationals, urging them to strictly comply with the country’s immigration laws amid ongoing inspections of foreign residents by local authorities.

“Dear compatriots, according to Indonesia’s immigration services, local authorities are currently verifying whether the stated purpose of stay matches actual activities for holders of both temporary and permanent residence permits. If discrepancies are found, the permits will be revoked and the individuals deported for violating immigration regulations. We strongly urge you to follow all rules established by Indonesian authorities,” the embassy stated in a message posted on its official Telegram channel.

In February, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov noted that the Southeast Asian country remains a popular destination for Russian travelers. In 2024, approximately 150,000 Russian tourists visited Indonesia.
