Russia's Emergencies Ministry is set to deliver 27 tons of humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza, according to the agency's press service as reported by TASS.
"An IL-76 aircraft from the Russian Emergency Ministry departed from the international airport named after twice Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-Khan Sultan in Makhachkala to the airport in the city of El-Arish. The cargo consists of generators, clothing, dressing materials, food, and baby food, with a total weight of approximately 27 tons," stated the Emergencies Ministry.
The flight is carried out on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emergencies Ministry head Alexander Kurenkov.
This is the first humanitarian cargo sent to the residents of Palestine from Dagestan, the head of the region, Sergei Melikov, said in his Telegram channel. "We collected humanitarian aid from across the entire republic. Our generous philanthropists expressed their readiness to personally pay for the entire necessary cargo, but we explained to them how important it is to give every Dagestani an opportunity to participate in this good deed. Our funds "Insan" and "Pure Heart" organized everything so that all our residents could contribute to the common cause. Transfers from 100 rubles to quite large sums ensured the collection of funds in record time," Melikov wrote.
Businessmen, clergy, civil servants, and local residents actively participated in the collection efforts, resulting in the gathering of over 100,000 units of humanitarian aid in the region. According to Melikov, the next shipment is scheduled to be dispatched in the near future.
On November 18, a dedicated aircraft from the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 30 tons of essential humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, encompassing items such as mattresses, pillows, personal hygiene products, as well as food and baby supplies. This recent delivery brings the total amount of humanitarian aid provided by the Russian side to 190 tons.
