The Russian Federation has the necessary technology to modernize the steel plant in Pakistan's Karachi. Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said this in an interview with The Nation daily published on Wednesday.
"Russia has the necessary technology to modernize this plant," the daily quoted the minister as saying. - "A corresponding intergovernmental memorandum was signed in 2013, and later the Russian side presented a concept for modernizing and increasing the plant's production capacity."
According to Shulginov, "the Pakistani government decided to privatize the plant, but these plans have not yet been implemented." Shulginov added that Russian companies are still interested in developing the steel plant in Karachi and are willing to consider their participation.
Islamabad will host another round of consultations in the framework of the Russian-Pakistani Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation from January 18 to 20, 2023. The Russian side will be headed by Minister of Energy Shulginov, the Pakistani side by Federal Minister of Economic Affairs Ayaz Sadiq. It is planned that the talks will discuss ways to pay for energy resources, transportation costs and insurance.
