A team of technical specialists from Rosatom has arrived in Burkina Faso to discuss the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country. The visit, which will continue until August 9, was reported by Burkina24.
"We have high hopes for this visit," said Yacouba Zabre Guba, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Energy, Mines, and Quarries, who welcomed the Rosatom delegation. "We are prepared to discuss all technical details and identify the tasks necessary for implementation. We hope that the construction of the nuclear power plant will help address many economic challenges."
In March 2024, Burkina Faso and Russia signed a roadmap to cooperate on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The agreement outlines plans for nuclear generation projects and the application of radiation technologies in agriculture and medicine in Burkina Faso.
