Russian Foreign Ministry: Afghan authorities gave assurances that humanitarian cargoes would be sent to those in need

Representatives of the provisional Afghan government assured that Russian humanitarian aid will be sent to the neediest groups of the population and healthcare establishments, the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry reads on Monday.


The ministry said that on December 18, the third batch of 36 tons of Russian humanitarian aid, including food and medicines, had been delivered to Kabul by special aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry with the help of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and Foreign Ministry. All in all, three shipments of Russian humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, delivered in November and December this year, amounted to about 108 tons.


"Representatives of the provisional Afghan government expressed their sincere gratitude to the Russian side and assured that the humanitarian cargoes will be sent to the neediest groups of the population and healthcare institutions," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.


Russian citizens and Afghan students enrolled or continuing their studies at Russian universities were flown back from Kabul to Moscow, the Foreign Ministry added.
