Russian Foreign Ministry and Arab League diplomats discuss the possibility of a ministerial meeting of the Middle East Quartet

The Special Representative of Russian Foreign Minister Vladimir Safronkov during his conversation with the Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League Husam Zaki stressed the importance of convening a ministerial meeting of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators (Russia, US, UN and EU) and the further development of cooperation with the League on the issue of Palestinian-Israeli conflict settlement, a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.


The foreign ministry noted that the sides discussed developments in the Middle East with an emphasis on the task of establishing Palestinian-Israeli negotiations aimed at implementing the principle of "two states" - Palestine and Israel, coexisting in peace and security.


"The Russian side reiterated the relevance of convening a ministerial meeting of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators consisting of Russia, the United States, the UN and the EU and further build up interaction with the Arab League," the statement said.
