Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov held discussions with the heads of African diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow to prepare for the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum. The event is scheduled to take place in Sochi in November, according to a press release from the Roscongress Foundation reported by TASS.
“Within the framework of the preparation plan for the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum (Russia-Africa SMID), which will be held in November 2024 on the federal territory of Sirius, the Russian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov with the heads of diplomatic missions of African states accredited in Moscow,” the report stated. During the meeting, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry provided the African diplomatic corps with information about the conference program, as well as its organizational, technical, and protocol aspects.
The ministry noted that the conference will include the participation of heads of specialized African ministries, integration associations, representatives from Russian and African businesses, government agencies and financial institutions, social and scientific circles, and leading Russian and foreign experts and media representatives. “The main topics of discussion are the development of trade and economic cooperation, investment partnership, joint work in the field of education and science, as well as strengthening security and regional cooperation,” it stated. The conference will also focus on expanding cooperation between BRICS and African countries.
