Russian Foreign Ministry: EAEU-Indonesia Free Trade Agreement Nears Completion

10 February

The free trade agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia is in its final stages before signing, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin in an interview with Izvestia.

“As for the FTA with Indonesia, most of the documents have already been agreed upon. The text is currently being finalized, and it’s safe to say we are nearing the finish line,” Pankin stated.

The senior diplomat also highlighted that the main phase of negotiations on an FTA with the UAE has been completed. “The draft agreement is now undergoing internal approval processes within EAEU member states and in the UAE. Additional consultations may be needed based on these reviews, after which the parties will proceed with the necessary internal procedures to sign the agreement and prepare for the official signing ceremony,” Pankin explained.

Regarding India, Pankin noted that discussions about a future agreement are still at the expert level. “Official negotiations have not yet started, but I am confident they will begin sooner or later,” he added.

Pankin emphasized that the EAEU is open to new partnerships with countries and integration groups both within the region and beyond. “We are ready to build cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” he concluded.
