Russian Foreign Ministry informs that the embassy in Kabul is fully staffed

26 July 2021

The Russian embassy in Kabul is functioning without any changes and the entire diplomatic staff is working as usual, Zamir Kabulov, the Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Director of the Second Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told TASS on Monday.

"The entire embassy staff is as it was," he said, answering a question about how many Russian diplomats remain in the country.

On July 5, Kabulov told TASS that the Russian consulate general in Mazar-e-Sharif temporarily ceased operations due to the worsening situation in northern Afghanistan. Later, it became known that the consulate general's staff was temporarily transferred to Uzbekistan for security reasons.
