Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia expects further development of cooperation with Djibouti after the elections

Russia counts on the further development of cooperation with Djibouti after the presidential elections in the republic.


"Moscow welcomes the successful holding of the presidential election and looks forward to further boosting multifaceted cooperation with Djibouti in the interests of strengthening traditionally friendly relations between our countries," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.


The Foreign Ministry pointed out that the observers from the African community noted that the election process was peaceful and calm, and noted the absence of serious violations that might affect the results of the expression of the will of the people.


The incumbent president of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, won Friday's elections in the country, receiving 98.58% of the vote.
