Russia honors the memory of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as an eminent statesman and a kind, sincere friend of the country, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told a briefing.
"He was killed in a treacherous and cowardly strike carried out during the US-Israeli aggression against Iran," the deputy minister stated. "We remember Ayatollah Khamenei as an outstanding religious and political figure who did so much to develop and strengthen his nation while bolstering its international standing."
Rudenko emphasized the late leader's role in the bilateral relationship between Moscow and Tehran. "The Ayatollah was always a kind, true, and sincere friend of Russia, making a vast contribution to the growth and reinforcement of our comprehensive strategic partnership."
