Russian MFA: Countries in Moscow Format for Afghanistan Confirm Participation in Meeting

Most of the participating countries in the Moscow format for the settlement of the Afghanistan situation have confirmed their participation in the upcoming meeting scheduled for September 29 in Kazan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told reporters.

 

"Essentially, all participants of the Moscow format have expressed their intention to attend and engage in discussions regarding Afghanistan. We also hope that representatives from the current Afghan authorities will be in attendance," the deputy minister said in response to a question from TASS.

 

Rudenko emphasized that this meeting represents a crucial step in the ongoing discussions regarding developments in Afghanistan and future possibilities. He also highlighted the importance of assessing what the international community, particularly the nations participating in this format, can contribute to stabilizing the overall situation in Afghanistan.

 

The Moscow format on Afghanistan comprises Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The last meeting within this format took place in November 2022.
