Russian MFA: dates and venue of Russia-Africa summit may be determined soon

23 May 2022

The decision on the dates and location of the second Russia-Africa summit may be taken in the near future. The Russian diplomatic mission is coordinating the relevant aspects with its African partners. The statement was made on Monday by Oleg Ozerov, the head of the secretariat of the "Russia-Africa Partnership Forum" and Ambassador-at-Large for the Russian Foreign Ministry, at the round table "Interregional Cooperation of Subjects of the Russian Federation with African Countries" in the Federation Council.

"Now we are again entering an active phase in the preparation of the second summit. I think that in the near future we will have a decision on the date and place of the summit. I just do not want to reveal it now, because the task is to coordinate it with our African partners. And the ministry is working on it," he said.

The first Russia-Africa summit was held in Sochi on October 23-24, 2019, co-chaired by Russian and Egyptian presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The second summit is scheduled for the fall of 2022.
