Relations between Russia and Iran are built on a solid foundation of friendship and good-neighborliness, making them impervious to external attempts to create division, stated Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in an interview with TASS.
“Iran, as a sovereign state, has the right to independently build its foreign policy. We, in turn, base our Russian-Iranian relations on a solid foundation of friendship and good-neighborliness, immune to external influences or attempts by adversaries to drive a wedge between our countries through unscrupulous means,” Rudenko said.
Rudenko emphasized that this enduring relationship is reinforced by the assurances from Tehran, which were reiterated during recent contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leadership of the Islamic Republic. These assurances reflect a readiness to further strengthen multifaceted ties and implement mutually beneficial projects that align with the strategic direction set by Iran's Supreme Leader.
Additionally, Rudenko mentioned that Russia and Iran have finalized a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, with a historic signing ceremony expected to take place soon.
