Russian President Congratulates Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan’s Independence Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, expressing confidence in the continued development of constructive cooperation between the two countries.

 

“Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are characterized by friendship and alliance. I am confident that through joint efforts we can continue to strengthen our constructive bilateral cooperation and our partnership on international issues,” Putin said in his message, which was published on the official website of the President of Azerbaijan.

 

The Russian leader noted that this cooperation “fully serves the interests of our peoples and contributes to enhanced security and stability in the South Caucasus and Caspian region.”

 

President Putin also wished Aliyev good health and success, and extended his best wishes of peace and prosperity to all citizens of Azerbaijan.

 

Azerbaijan celebrates its Independence Day on May 28.
