Russian Prosecutor General Proposes Establishing Permanent Working Group with UAE Colleagues

22 April

Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov has proposed establishing a permanent working group with representatives from the Prosecutor General's Office of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He expressed this during a meeting in Moscow with UAE Prosecutor General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, as reported by the press service of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

"I am pleased to note that the UAE Prosecutor General's Office has already begun active engagement on the BRICS platform, and your personal participation in the sixth meeting of heads of prosecutor's services of the member states of this association, planned to be held in St. Petersburg in June this year, is highly valuable for the development of cooperation in this format," Krasnov emphasized, as quoted in the press service.

He highlighted that with the active digitalization of many aspects of modern life, it is crucial for prosecutors to possess a universal set of competencies not only in jurisprudence but also in high technology. "I believe it is beneficial to exchange such developments, and your experience will undoubtedly be of interest to all partners from the BRICS countries," he added.

"I attach great importance to strengthening our cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. We have already invited your representatives to the seminar for the Prosecutor Generals of the SCO member states in St. Petersburg on May 22 to exchange experience in the field of recovering criminal assets from abroad," Krasnov continued.

To establish operational contacts between representatives of the competent authorities of both countries, the Russian Prosecutor General proposed creating a permanent working group to discuss and solve urgent problems related to fighting crime and protecting the rights of citizens. He expressed confidence that this initiative would provide a new impetus to the development of multifaceted contacts between the agencies and the search for new mutually beneficial forms of cooperation.
