Russian Sherpa: Indonesia was glad for Russia's participation in the G20 at the chosen level

Indonesia was prepared for Russia to be represented at the G20 summit not by its head of state but by its foreign minister. Jakarta was happy for Moscow's participation at such a level, Svetlana Lukash, Russia's sherpa to the G20, told Vedomosti in an interview published on Tuesday.

"Indonesia was, first of all, absolutely ready for such a scenario," she said in response to a question about whether Indonesia was disappointed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had not come to the summit and that the delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Lukash recalled that on the eve of the summit, Putin had a conversation with Indonesian President Joko Widodo. "As far as I understand, the way they talked about this issue completely satisfied the Indonesian side. Obviously, there was clarification, support and Indonesia was pleased with Russia's participation at the level we were represented," the sherpa added.

Moreover, she continued, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov "certainly showed himself very brightly at the summit, both in speeches and on the margins, where he had many bilateral meetings." "And I think Indonesia achieved the main thing: thanks to Russia and Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, the result they were striving for, i.e., a joint declaration," Lukash noted.

The Declaration on the results of the summit of the Group of Twenty has more than 50 points. The document says, among other things, different points of view on the Ukrainian issue.
